Sparkly Ragz is a consignment shop with a difference.

It’s located in Harbor Square, one of the showpiece commercial buildings on the waterfront. Inside are fashionable women’s clothing and accessories from well-known labels, as well as bracelets, necklaces and other items made by local craftspeople.

“I’ve tried to make it look like a boutique that’s higher end,” owner Holly Conse said.

That said, she doesn’t want to scare away the bargain hunters. The boutique look doesn’t mean boutique prices. Conse said prices range from $5 to $300.

“There’s really something for everyone in here,” she said.

She pointed out a sweater knit dress by St. John that’s a few years old. It probably retailed for about $900, she said. The price at Sparkly Ragz is $150.

Among the labels that Sparkly Ragz is looking for to sell on consignment are Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Bebe, Prada, Chanel, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Free People, Lucky Brand, Coach, Louis Vuitton and Dooney & Bourke.

Sparkly Ragz is a family effort. Salina Conse is Holly Conse’s daughter. She helps manage the store.
“We’ve teamed up as the mother and daughter,” Holly Conse said. “I made her a deal – stick close for a year and help me get my store launched.”

Holly Conse works at a technology job in Concord.

“I have two full-time jobs, basically,” she said.

Salina Conse is also busy. Besides running the store on weekdays, she has a job in a store at Solano Town Center and appears in local plays. She is to play Mrs. Cratchit in Solano Repertory Theatre’s production of “A Christmas Carol.”

She plans to move to Los Angeles to take part in the Disney College program and ultimately wants to move to New York and do theater there. But for now, Sparkly Ragz plays a big role in her life.

“She’s got the same vision as I have,” Holly Conse said. “We did this together. We thought this through together.”

Holly Conse’s husband, Rene, has also lent a hand. He did such things as the painting and molding in the store.

Both Holly Conse and Salina Conse described themselves as major shoppers. Holly Conse said she’s lived in Suisun City for years and for years she’s wished Suisun City had more shopping.

Now she’s taken matters into her own hands.

Sparkly Ragz is located at 700 Main St., Suite 114. It is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. People who sell on consignment get 40 percent of the sale price or 50 percent in store credit. Please call 426-4303 for more information.

Sparkly Ragz - Suisun City, CA

You may have entered a consignment shop at one time or another. Or, you may have a preconceived notion of what a consignment shop might look like. But, once you set foot in Sparkly Ragz in Suisun, you’ll quickly realize this is not what you were expecting. This is a boutique. This is a boutique where you’ll want to shop.

Look around you…there are absolutely great handbags, chic and stylish dresses, and shoes most shops charge hundreds for. You can put together an entire outfit…head to toe. In fact, you’ll probably spend less than $100 for that whole outfit. That’s right…the whole outfit. And it just may include Prada, Gucci, Louis V, or Chanel. They have all those and more.

But, there is so much more than previously loved clothing. Sparkly Ragz partners with local artisans as they display and sell one-of-a-kind denim jackets, unique jewelry, recycled relics, birthday gifts, special occasion gifts, or maybe something for yourself. Did you realize old books that can’t be reused can be turned into purses? Look closely at the beads in the super cool jewelry. Those used to be something else before they were turned into awesome beads. Hard to imagine the creativity here. Many of these artisans are entrepreneurs starting their second or third careers. The quality and selection is impressive.

With a variety of clothing in a wide range of sizes, most anyone can find something for that special event or something to wear with your jeans. Sparkly Ragz has been open since 2013 and the clientele is growing. So is the inventory. If you have quality items you no longer wear, check out their consignment policy. You will find information about consigning on their website,  Sign up for their newsletter to stay current on their specials, new additions, and artisan displays.

Mother, daughter owners, Salina and Holly have managed to create a boutique that could be found in any major city. We’re fortunate to have it in our area…downtown Suisun. This should be a destination for anyone looking for quality clothing, unique accessories, or special gifts. With changing seasons and artisans, I know I’ll be checking back often.
